    Description

    From a tiny original mintage of just 9,803 pieces. This specimen has a far better strike and planchet than is usually seen for this issue. On PCGS CoinFacts, Doig Winter states, “I have never seen an 1855-C gold dollar that I would characterize as being well struck...This issue is plagued by mint-made planchet problems.” This piece is well above average in both regards.
