  • Condition: Designed as an advertising mock-up by the Ford News Bureau with a facsimile of Fritz Reiner's signature mounted with glue onto a sheet of paper taped at the bottom of the mat. Information typed beneath Reiner's name, identifies him as the "Musical Director, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra / Appearing With The / N.B.C. Orchestra / Sundays, December 15, 22, 29, January 5 / 5 p.m." Stamped on the portion of the sheet taped to the verso is the name and New York address of the "personal representative" Andrew Schulhof. The Ford News Bureau's Dearborn, Michigan Administrative office's stamp is affixed to the verso of the mat with a number penciled above. There are minor faint scratches to the photograph. The edges of the mat are slightly soiled and the corners are bumped and worn. There are tears to the portion of the sheet of paper that is taped to the verso. Very good.

    An original 13-3/8 inch high by 10-3/4 inch wide glossy black & white photograph of Fritz Reiner in three-quarter profile from the knees up. With both arms extended the conductor, casually dressed in a wool cardigan, holds his baton in his left hand. Mounted onto 20 inch high by 16 inch wide creamy white mat board,
    the photograph is signed and dated 1946 in pencil by Life magazine staff photographer Paul Dorsey on the mat under the image at right.
