    Description

Original 8" x 10" glossy double-weight photograph of Marian Anderson accepting the American Association of University Women's "Woman of the Year" award from sculptor Malvina Hoffman and Brooklyn College English Department Chairman Professor Margaret Bryant, year unknown.  We do know she was the first African American to receive the award.
There is a note on the verso of the photograph,
This was at the A.A.U.W. Club House on 111 E. 37th St. N.Y.C. 10016 MU4-6068/ Miss Hoffman told me she was born on W -43rd St. near the present Town Hall.  Eugene O'Neill was also born on this street.
The award is in Anderson's archive at the University of Pennsylvania.
    Interesting!
Crease at bottom right a top left corner which can be seen in the scan.
