    Description

    Nine vintage all original very rare and hard to find 1940's/1950's Rise Stevens Golden Age Of Opera operatic music glossy black and white photographs and magazine ephemera. They are from the estate of Dorothy Crowthers who was the Editor-In-Chief Of The Baton magazine of The Institute Of Musical Art Of The Juilliard School Of Music from 1922 to 1932. The 9 photographs include three 7" by  9" - one with Rise and her son Nicky and record player with the back stamped marked "Rise Stevens, Metropolitan Opera Co., New York City", one with Rise, her dog and typewriter and one with Rise standing on a plaza. Six 8" by 10" photos - one with Rise in opera garb and the back marked "Rise Stevens as Der Rosenkavalier", one beauty promo marked on the back "Rise Stevens, Metropolitan Opera Co., New York City", one frame portrait style marked "Rise Stevens as Der Rosenkavalier", one marked "Rise Stevens as Carmen", one with her son Nicky at a pool and one with Nickey Nicolas and her husband Walter Surovy (Austrian stage and screen actor).
    Stevens was an American operatic mezzo-soprano. The original photos are in very good to excellent condition as pictured. I have more photos on auction now and will be listing many other photos from the estate some signed and some unsigned in the near future.
